The national round of the 3rd LAWASIA Moot Competition was indeed one of the greatest experiences in my life that I have had so far. Quiet often I’ve heard from mooters as well as practicing lawyers that whether you are in the court room or when you are mooting you, need to think on your feet. Those words didn’t really mean much to me until the lawasia moots came along. For me, it was an unforgettable experience. Although nervousness and stage freight never failed to attack me each time i stand at the rostrum, it was a good experience and it did give me a taste of being a lawyer in the future.
I have to say that even though we didn’t win the competition, all the time, effort and hard work put in was very worthwhile. An important thing that i have learned through the moots is that mooting no longer meant going out there and presenting your case alone in front of the honourable judges. It is not a “one man show” event. To me, mooting now meant collaboration between team members and great support from your coach. These are the spices that make up a moot. Finally i have to admit that mooting is not an easy task but one which needs perseverance and great determination to succeed in it.
