Reading law in the National University of Malaysia (UKM)
UKM's law faculty is just like other universities' law school where it provides students a platform to read the law and have fun. The law students in UKM indeed work smart and play hard!
Throughout our three and a half years here, we realised that there are a lot of opportunities for law students to develop themselves. Chances are there and it depends on whether they want to seize those opportunities. A law student can opt to be free most of the time if his aim is just to pass examinations and read the minimum materials. Bear in mind that law students do not have to do any lab work or field work which requires many hours to complete. On the contrary, a law student can choose to be very occupied as there are many academic and co-curriculum activities which are never taught in lectures for them to join. These include mooting practices, client counselling competitions, legal clinics, negotiation competitions and even stage play! Students can feel free to participate in their interested activities and subsequently acquire the skill of mooting, the tips and traps of examination of witness during mock trial, client counselling techniques and also the art of negotiation. All in all, a law student gets the best of both world as he will be involved with many activites that when he graduates, he will be an all-rounded person.Besides activities, the sense of belonging in the law school is equally important. The staff in the law library and the deanery of UKM is always friendly and helpful. The lecturers will never hesitate to assist students in their studies. This makes the process of eduction more enjoyable and full of benefits. In short, UKM is a conducive place to read law as the people as it has the best facilities and the best resources.
